Friday 24th February 2012, 5 p.m.
Tour de l’Archet, Morgex (Aosta Valley)
The exhibition is part of the project “Education à l’environnement : connaître et comprendre les territoires de l’Espace Mont-Blanc” defined by the Integrated Cross-border Plan of the Espace Mont-Blanc and funded through the Operational Programme for Cross-border Cooperation Italy - France 2007-2013, ALCOTRA. It is designed and coordinated by the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of the Valle d'Aosta (Italy) in cooperation with the Centre de la Nature Montagnarde in Sallanches (France), the Fondation Tissières in Martigny (Switzerland) and “Fondazione Montagna Sicura” in Courmayeur (Italy).
The exhibition aims to offer visitors an overview of the most beautiful landscapes of the Espace Mont Blanc through the eye of experts, and others. The geologist describes the shapes and the mass of the mountains, the geographer explains the changes made by humans to the natural environment through the analysis of populated areas and infrastructure, the naturalist presents the biological components of the landscape, with its flora, fauna and vegetation.
A fourth point of view, which was not originally envisioned, is that of the artist who interprets the landscape from an unconventional perspective.
This project was made possible thanks to the support of many professionals: the architects who have translated the concept and the ideas of the working group into a tangible exhibit; the photographers who have fully captured the images that were described by those studying (with knowledge of) the landscape.
The stunning landscape around Mont Blanc presents itself to the scientist and the viewer alike with the gift of beautiful scenery.
