The initial core of the library of the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Saint-Pierre stems from the library of the Société de la Flore Valdôtaine, established starting from the 1970s (in the 1930s and 1940s, unfortunately, the old literature collections of this historical Valle d’Aosta association were lost). It includes numerous naturalistic books, especially with a popular character, and a first series of scientific or information journals published by universities, scientific and environmental associations, Italian and foreign museums, especially obtained in exchange for the Revue Valdôtaine d'Histoire Naturelle, a scientific magazine published by the Société de la Flore.
With the setting up of the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences, also the purchase of numerous scientific monographs started, regarding various fields of natural sciences, while exchange and acquisition of scientific and popular magazines and journals has been intensified; currently, more than 150 publications are regularly received by the library, coming from Italy and numerous foreign countries. This way, the intention is to create at the Saint-Pierre Museum a regional centre of documentation in the framework of naturalistic studies.
